Our Story

It began with Robert A. Duff, a Virginia native, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and baseball enthusiast who founded the Diamond Dream Foundation, Inc. in 2006. His vision at the time - to share his love for the game of baseball and the benefits of teamwork with youth and community. By partnering with professional athletes, coaches, volunteers, businesses, and other charitable organizations, DDF has been providing instructional baseball clinics for almost a decade to the youth of the nation’s capital. He envisions a charity that inspires and provides inner city children with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, an appreciation for a healthy lifestyle and to experience the excitement of America’s national pastime.
 
In the process, young people learn essential life skills and values that not only promote accountability, confidence, self-esteem and camaraderie, but ultimately, passion: the passion that propels them forward in life--to show up, to participate, to contribute. That is, in part, what DDF describes as the "magic" of baseball. It is also what Bob calls "finding the happy."
 
As of 2016, DDF expanded its mission to include nutritional outreach. DDF is looking forward to its expanded role serving the youth communities of the DC metro area with the relevance and resources it takes to make a difference in a young person's life. We want to inspire kids to get active, choose healthy and find their happy. This is the true magic that lies at the heart of DDF. Please join us on our journey...
